Heavy weight! National Energy Administration delineates key tasks for 2025

It analyzed the situation and problems faced by the development of renewable energy and deployed key work for 2025.

On February 28th, the National Energy Administration held a monthly (February) scheduling video conference for the development and construction of renewable energy power nationwide. Wan Jinsong, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting summarized the overall situation of the development of renewable energy in China in 2024, listened to the implementation of the opinions and suggestions put forward at the last monthly dispatch meeting, the progress of major renewable energy projects in the country, the supply and demand of the wind and photovoltaic industry chain, and the development situation. It analyzed the situation and problems faced by the development of renewable energy and deployed key work for 2025.
The meeting pointed out that in 2024, China's renewable energy will maintain a good trend of high-speed development, high proportion utilization, and high-quality consumption, playing an important role in ensuring power supply and promoting energy transformation. As of the end of 2024, the installed capacity of renewable energy generation in China has reached 1.889 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 24.6%, and the proportion of installed capacity has exceeded half for two consecutive years; The total installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power reached 1.406 billion kilowatts, surpassing coal-fired power installed capacity for the first time. In 2024, the newly installed capacity of renewable energy will be 373 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 23%, accounting for approximately 86% of the newly installed capacity of electricity; The newly installed capacity of renewable energy has exceeded 300 million kilowatts for two consecutive years, accounting for over 50% of the world's newly installed capacity. The national renewable energy power generation reached 3.47 trillion kilowatt hours, accounting for about 35% of the total power generation. The average utilization rate of renewable energy in the country remains above 95%. Distributed new energy has become a new force in development, with distributed photovoltaics accounting for over 40% of all photovoltaic power generation.
The meeting believes that by 2024, with the joint efforts of the entire industry and all aspects, the first batch of large-scale wind and photovoltaic bases will be basically completed and put into operation. Important policies and systems such as pumped storage, distributed photovoltaics, and green certificates and green electricity will be issued and implemented, major hydropower projects such as Yaxia will be approved, and a number of projects that benefit the people and agriculture, such as the "Thousand Families and Ten Thousand Households" Mu Guang Action, the "Thousand Townships and Ten Thousand Villages" Wind Control Action, and the rural energy revolution, will be actively promoted. China's renewable energy development has achieved remarkable results.
The meeting pointed out that 2025 is the final year of the 14th Five Year Plan and a crucial year for planning the 15th Five Year Plan. The development plan of renewable energy faces more opportunities, greater space, higher requirements, and more challenges. In 2025, we must focus on achieving "two hard tasks and two high qualities". Two 'hard tasks', one is to increase efforts to promote the construction of the' Shagehuang 'new energy base and ensure that the base projects are completed and put into operation on schedule; The second is to do a good job in the final work of the 14th Five Year Plan, especially for the projects included in the 102 major national projects to be completed on schedule. At the same time, we must also focus on the preparation of the "15th Five Year Plan" for the development of renewable energy, providing a basis for the development of the "15th Five Year Plan". Two 'high qualities', one is to focus on the research and implementation of important policy documents with high quality, and guide the industry to develop sustainably and healthily; The second is to do a good job in the consumption and utilization of new energy with high quality. We should actively respond and implement various measures to ensure that the utilization rate of wind and photovoltaic power generation in the country remains at a reasonable level.
Officials from relevant departments (bureaus) of the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, energy regulatory departments of various provinces (regions, municipalities) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, dispatched agencies of the National Energy Administration, relevant power grid enterprises, power generation enterprises, hydropower institutes, power planning institutes, energy research institutes of the National Development and Reform Commission, wind energy professional committees of the China Renewable Energy Society, China Photovoltaic Industry Association and other units attended the meeting.
